Are you really 15? If you're, then I say the world needs more teenagers like you. Not that because I agree with you or not, that's not the point, the point is you actually construct well-presented criticism and reasoning rather than one of those folks who just plain yell at people when they can't complete an arguement. Then, I look at where you're from and I can believe that if you're actually 15 and that smart. ;-P

Then, after the middle ages, loads of people suddenly said they knew better then the pope (at that time a successor to Christ himself). Seperation upon seperation followed. Each with their unique interpretation of God's word. Sects, slavery, women's oppression were all justified by the bible - and the bible says they are good. Our morals are different, yet Christians (not all) say our morals originate from the bible.
Few purposefully lied. Most simply thought they were doing the right thing. |

No. Most books were originally rumors. They were altered and magnified. After many years they were finally written down. Then, centuries of copiers rewrote the seperate books. Parchment lasts but a few years, so copies had to be made often.
Then came Jesus. His story too was glorified. A select group of elite Christians chose which gospels were "god-inspired" and which weren't. When Constantine came to power, he summoned the Council of Nicaea, which too edited the bible and changed the Christian ways: the tradition of the pope is not Christian, but Roman. After the fall of Rome, Christian converters spread through Europe. All of them were made holy afterwards. After that, monks had a couple of centuries to copy the bible on their own. Witches were burnt, antipopes fought popes, heretics were lynched. Almost nobody but those in power and those in the church could read what the bible said. Preachers could say whatever they wanted. |

What's the bio res.?
That the bible is in fact not perfect and should not be considered the work of god, used as a history book or as a work meant to guide people to philosophical, and much less physical, answers. But that unity is wrong. One of the few things 3/4 books agree on, and it turns out to be false. "Even many scientists/atheists are not THAT sure." Oh really? How do you know? Did you ask? I thought 10^-7 was a pretty big chance: the chance of finding life around a random star is smaller! |
