Zanois began as a solo project of a young New Hampshire multi-instrumentalist back in 2005, when Zane McNois began recording early demos on a four-track tape recorder. Several years and several different aliases later, a band was assembled with Zane, Justice McAwesome, and Snowman Hospital. A few shows were played opening for bands like Lemon Demon, Camera Head Shark, Lima Research Society, and Hello Ninja, although eventually Justice had to leave, and thus a new band must be created.

Kyle and Hugo have recently joined Zanois in order to provide bass and guitar and such, and they are beginning to work on a full length album. For the most part, Zane still writes most of the songs and plays most of the instruments on the recordings, but the band is certainly not a solo project of him alone.
