So yeh, this is a bit different, it's not so much a song as a poem... with chords!
But I thought I'd give it a go anyway. Sorry I had to look at the screen for the words... there are a lot of them! And here they are:
This is a letter, from God to man: Hey there. How's it going? Long time, no see.
I know I haven't been around much lately, But it didn't seem like you wanted me to be. The last time I sent down a message, you nailed it to the cross, so i figure, I'd just leave you to it. And let you be your own boss.
But I've been keeping an eye on you, I have, and it's amazing how you've grown. All your technological advances and the problems you've overthrown. And all the beautiful art you've created with such grace and such finess but I must admit there are a few things that, I'm afraid, have impressed me less.
So I'm writing to apologise for all the horrors committed in my name, although it was never what I intended, I feel I should take my share of the blame. A lot of good I tried to do was corrupted when orgnanised religion got into full swing, what I thought were quite clear messages were taken to unusual extremes.
My teachings where taken out of context to meet the agendas of others, interpretations were taken in many different ways and hidden meanings "discovered" Religion became a tool for the weak to control the strong, with all these new morals and ethics survival of the fittest was gone. No longer could the biggest man simply take what ever he needed, because damnation was the price if certain rules were not heeded.
Some of the deeds committed in my name just make me wonder where I went wrong, back at the start when I "created" all of this, the foundations seemed so strong. See all the elements were already here, long befor I began, I just kind of put them all together, I didn't really think out a long term plan. I made the sun an appropriate distance and laid the stars across the sky, so you could navigate the globe or simply watch a sunrise. I covered the earth with plants and fruits, some for sustenance and some for beauty, and made the sun shine and clouds rain, so that maintenance wasn't your duty. I tried to give each creature its own attributes but without making them enveloped, I gave you all your own space to grow and, in your own way, space to develop. I didn't know that such development would cause rifts and jealousy, cause you to war against each other and leave marks on this planet indelibly.
You see, I wasn't the creator, I was more the curator of nature, and I want to set things straight with homosexuals right now: I DON'T HATE YA! I was a simple being that happend to be the first to yield such powers, but I just laid the ground, it was you that built the towers. It was you that invented bombs and the fear that comes with them, and it was you that invented money, and the corrupt economic systems. You invented terms like "Just wars" and terms like "Friendly Fire", and it was you that didn't know when to stop digging deeper and when stop building higher. It was you that exhausted the resources I carefully laid out on this earth, and it was you that even saw these problems coming but accredited them little worth. It was you that used my teachings for your own personal gain and it was you that committed such tragedies, even if they were in my name.
So i apologise for any mistakes I made and for when my words were misconstrued, but this apology is to mother nature BECAUSE I CREATED YOU!

Some old-time music, soup beans, my grandmother, and Matters Theological.
Another true story. My grandmother passed away in 1988, at age 88. I miss her everyday. You see, she taught me to play the piano. You haven't heard the last of her.
To answer a couple of FAQs, I do these stories in one take. I don't rehearse, except for the number of times it takes me to get it right. In this case, sound problems kept cropping up, and my tongue wouldn't work, which meant I had to do it 21 times before I got it down, cause I'm an idiot. The ragged cuts were because the story ended up 14 minutes long. The details left out will somehow reappear in subsequent stories, I'm sure. Yes, they are all true. No, there is no script. Yes, I remember how to play all those old hymns. Yes, I know the words. No, I don't often sing them in the shower, though I should.
PLEASE leave a comment and a rating, giving gentle but constructive criticism if you wish. Forgive the mistakes in the playing or theology. They are my own, not my grandmother's. I hope you enjoy it.

I posted a video of the Van Morrison song "Caravan" a while back. After receiving a copyright notice from YouTube I created a parody called "Caravan of Lawyers" expressing my frustration with the situation. Happily , Exile records reviewed the video and the situation and has been kind enough to extend me permission to post videos of my performances of Van's music. Thanks, Exile! I hope that I can do the man justice!

You guys already know that I consider it a gift to express myself in this way...and to have a connection with you guys in return. You have heard me go on about this whole means of communication being a creative outlet, one which hasn't been this inspiring in years for me. You know I look for the higher meaning in every feeling I become inspired to express. In one way, or another, I have communicated these thoughts to you. You know I am eternally thankful and grateful to you guys. However, there is one area I didn't see coming. I wasn't prepared in anyway for this unexpected blessing (you know that some of the best things in life are the unexpected. For the thing I am attempting to explain to you...I can never repay you for (Sheesh! I am almost getting misty in the eyes just thinking about this). I am soooo moved by how you people have embraced my daughter's efforts to participate in this thing I am referring to as my "creative expression." I just accidentally ran her across my camera...and hence, the YT screen about three years ago, only to have you, my circle of friends, embrace her with love and support. Trust me, she hears and receives every one of your constructive, or complementary comments. It was these comments that pulled her towards buying in on the road to creative expressiveness. In addition, some of you have adopted Missy as part of your community and have helped to protected her from any negative, or otherwise harmful people / factors that go hand in hand with the web. As a result, Missy looks forward to choreographing her own moves for her daddy's songs. I can't tell you how full my heart is from seeing excited little Missy preparing to dance and perform (for the tube). I can see that this expressive time she and I share will fast become our tradition / legacy. This quality time we have in our productions would not exsist if you guys weren't there for us to upload to. It's late right now...and I can't seem to say everything that needs to be said right now, but just know; you guys are just a bunch of great people...people that I choose to surround my family with. You are our my family as well. This song is our way of saying thanks! Please know that we thank all of you for your continued support and love you very much!

I need to lose weight! Who wants to join me? I think we should do this as a youtube challenge. Ellen Degeneres or Oprah Whimphrey should sponser us! Here's the lyrics to the rap...
Middle Age Rap
Well hello friends
You can call me Hallbe
My real names Ben
And now I'm feeling ballsy
So, here's a little jig
I'd like to put on tap
Just a song in head
It's called the middle age rap
I know it sounds cheesy
But life's not easy
I've got to get in shape
Before it's too late
Well here's a few things
You got to know for sure
My diets too rich
And my health is poor
I've made some strides
And I've told some lies
But now it's time
To get myself in line
Here's a little fact
And I'm not joking
'Bout nine months ago
I gave up smoking!
I feel a little better
But still under the weather
Because I've packed on the pounds
And I've downed a few rounds
Now my blood pressure's up
With my cholesterol
And my pants don't fit
I got to wear big and tall!
So where do I start
I've Just got to be smart
Get down on my fat
And sing my middle age rap!
Chorus
I am 48
A perfect candidate
For heart disease
And colon rectal cancer
I know I'm over weight
Might not look so great
I'm a big fat ranter
And a bit of a dancer
In just a short time
I'll be 49
And I'm starting to freak
I'm running out of time
So here's my wish
Just let me dish
By summer 08
Want to look and feel great
Now just one more line
To end this rhyme
By New years 09
I'll be downright FINE!
So here's my plea
To the youtube viewer
Don't leave me stranded
Like a big fat loser
So come and join me
In my quest
To get in shape
Be at our best
Call on Ellen
And Oprah too
Ask 'em to sponser
You know who
Now's the time
Just get in the line
Grab your cup
And belly up
Step up to bat
Let's lose this fat!
Join me for the chorus
Of the middle age rap!
Chorus
I am 48
A perfect candidate
For heart disease
And colon rectal cancer
I know I'm over weight
Might not look so great
I'm a big fat ranter
And a bit of a dancer
In just a short time
I'll be 49
And I'm starting to freak
I'm running out of time
So here's my wish
Just let me dish
By summer 08
Want to look and feel great
Now just one more line
To end this rhyme
By New years 09
I'll be downright FINE!
