Harvesting electricity, water & growing food on 1/3 Acre. How I quit tobacco permanently.
About Me:
One persons attempt to share information with others that is valuble and or usefull to society.
I run my computer, monitor off of my solar charged battery bank most of the time.
Inspired by various natural disasters. Proving to myself that a home based solar power production can work with light duty electrical loads.
Producing resources (power water & food) on a 1/3 acre suburban home site.
Sometimes I emphasize saving money, mostly trying to become less dependent on the electric, water & food infrastructure, to use land resources & prepared for an emergency.
Concerned about peak oil, economic collapse & climate change. Capturing & using rainwater, generating my own electricity. Growing my own food.
Trying to reduce my consumption footprint. Solar electricity production, experimentation. Home power usage.
Energy conservation.
My dietary habits & health concerns. Enjoying eating fruits & veggies home grown.
Unintended consequences from food choices. Food security.
Trying to be more independent for my food, if there was an emergency. Maintaining comfort level and security thru water-power outage, earthquake, fire emergency.
Insecure about loosing my water & electricity during a storm or natural disaster.
Trying different and unconventional ways water storage, filtration, control & irrigation.
Childhood love of gardening, watching seeds grow, eating from my backyard, fresh foods.
If someone asked me what message I wanted to deliver to humankind, it would be the Information in these videos.
Biggest worries, loss of food choices, cost of food, healthy food, climate change, loss of biodiversity, ocean acidification. Hyperinflation Peak Oil.
Socially Responsible investing. Ethical business choices in my 401K plan.
Sharing information, using resources more efficiently.

Let me know what you think.
I run my netbook computer, wireless router, modem off the xantek 175 watt modified sine inverter. Battery voltage is between 12.8 12.9 volts in the morning. I run power intensive appliances when the sun is full on my panels. Batteries act as a buffer so more power is flowing into them than running out. Hopefully if I'm careful not to deplete the batteries down below 80-90% capacity they should last for another 7-10 years.
