Thank you so much for posting this recording. I guess this is the recording Alicia made in 1974 with the London Philharmonic Conducting Lawrence Foster? She also recorded the the concerto in G that year. I so much like the use of her 'basses' on the piano.

I don't know any other pianist who recorded this work by Britten other than the unforgetable Shura Cherkassky. Britten could not have found a better pianist to perform it. I very much like the last moment 'Night' . Almost socalled 'Minimal music" !

Ella was and is unforgettable and there will be not anyone like her. For me she was the greatest jazz-singer of all times. Heard her once in Amsterdam and i will never forget this event

@dave231000 Indeed something went wrong in de last bars. I play the piece myself, and the last page and specially the last few bars are very difficult technically. But the interpretation I like very much. It is played with feeling!

Fantastic performance! Indeed nice to read the score as well. Don't understand the critics on the dynamics. Ciccolini now in his 80's is still playing very well, as i expecienced one week ago in Amsterdam, playing a complete Liszt program.

What an amazing piece!! Unfortunately only a few compositions of Hofmann are well known. I mention the Kaleidoscope Op. 40 so very well played by the Hofmann pupil Shura Cherkassky. There are 2 renditions on Y.T. i noticed. Shame these pieces are not played in the concert-halls anymore these days

To play pieces like this, one has to have the necessary charm and feeling in order to know how to play them. Magaloff, Horowitz and Cherkassky were able to play in this way. The Caprice Espagnol and the Valse d'Amour are splendid pieces too, and Cherkassky recorded these on his Decca CD "Encores"...

Mozart Sonata No. 8 in A minor, first movement by Andras Schiff. He plays with much higher tempo than Ingrid Heabler.

@kikiubovilla It's Albeniz' tango transcribed by Godowsky. I have 3 recordings all by Cherkassky, and they performances are all different, but all 3 marvelous. That was his genius!

@WilliamvdK Don't agree with you. Check the rendition of Alicia de Larrocha on you Tube, specially the 1961 recording. She sort of "owned" the music of Granados.

@JoFrSc @JoFrSc Horowitz never touched the Spanish repertoire, but suppose he did, he could not do better than Alicia! She was the queen of the piano. Her tone, touch and articulation are unsurpassed.
