@DrTac09 The French didn't use rifles, Napoleon disagreed with them, so they where unaware of the accuracy of them. Smoothbore muskets could be a bit dodgy to hit with and a charging horse would unerve all but the coolest soldiers.

@Songsmirth They are called dividers. If you set them to a certain distance, according to the scales of the map, then you can measure distances accurately on a map, including course changes, etc.

@Ironzealot7531 these are not rifles, they are muskets. And you actualy can tap load a baker rifle if you miss out the leather patch. It's less accurate than a normal musket, but hey.
