@clintow I suppose, but I quite like it. It means that the trumpet sound is audible and supportive, but not over baring or brash. It softens the overall tone of the brass section.

It is Barbara Frittoli at the beginning of the clip and she's singing to Abrogio Maestri. The cast for this Falstaff was absolutely stellar. They were all singing at the their best as well.

One of the best Proms I ever attended was the BSO's Damnation de Faust, from start to finish the orchestra and chorus were the absolute star. They truly have one of the most distinct sounds of any orchestra in the world. What a great ensemble.
