In his book 'From Babylon to Timbuktu' Rudolf R Windsor gives an account of this scattering of the Israelites:

As to colour holding back black musicians I think satchmo ,Ray Charles,little Richard and many,many others would disagree with you there,being black they were cheaper to employ to play music and from early prohibition times they were preferred in clubs and at venues as they were cheaper to hire and fire.Satchmo you might know better as louis Armstrong perhaps one of the most enduring of musicians who played trumpet did scat and sung in a gravelly sometimes booming voice,Buddy Holly was first hired as they thought he was black when the local radio station played his demo recording,there was always plenty of work for musicians especially black ones unlike sports there was no colour segregation that stopped them from performing.

just to clarify Jerry lee Lewis was perhaps one of the leading originators of rock n roll in the 1950`s he most certainly was not black and for true rock and rock fanatics Elvis in the sixties and Hendrix were perhaps the better remembered gods of Rock n Roll as rock really took off with the coming of the electric guitar,early influences toward the rock of today had to be Ray Charles,jerry lee lewis,little Richard,Buddy Holly,Bill Hailey to name but a few http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R­ock_music but whatever the colour of their skin they all influenced the genre we term rock n roll .

It was not negro slaves that invented rock n roll but a progressive trend starting with Ray Charles then little Richard then Elvis,Buddy Holly and other innovators including Jimi Hendrix that made rock n roll as we know it.
The early Negro slaves as you so delicately described them were instrumental in creating hymns and the Blues and soul music,but when rock and roll became popular it was on radio and at first Elvis and Buddy Holly were thought to be Black as radio doesn't show colour,lmao,it was also thought that Tom Jones was black when he was first heard singing,So in conclusion winnieGMS goodness gracious great balls of fire its not who starts the trend but the innovators that make it an enduring and popular form of music,so as not to confuse you jerry lee lewis was not black either nor was he related to jerry lewis :)

Are you denying that the negro slaves invented rock n roll!Remeber at the time before elvis and after segregation was still in effect and countless more talented negroes where shutout bec of the color of their skin!No diffrent from the negreo league of baseball jackie robinson along wit a few greats were remembered due to racism similar to the latinos.But america remembers babe ruth the bigot!
