The problem is that there isn't much virtuosa choreography, the kind that will help a kid win a present-day competition, that was created for children. And not every excellent dance teacher is a creative chore...

Congratulations! She grows in artistry as well as technique at a really astounding rate.

Maybe let her compete in YAGP? Some compete in it at age 8. Perhaps look up some of the choreography created for Alicia Markova when she was the youngest member of the Ballets Russes at 11...or the Bluebird Variation...or maybe that Giselle peasant variation that would give her a chance to show h...

Spectacular! Gorgeous lines with the arms and hands.

Any "dislikes" are senseless. Jealous little girls, most likely. This is an exquisite performance. If I had a dancing daughter, I'd want her to study with Marina Almayeva, who gets results AND develops individuality of style in her students.

She does use her hands and arms exquisitely and has a softness and fluidity I like. Exceptionally beautiful face, photogenic, the camera will love her.

Charming! Choreography suited to very talented children, not little kids performing material created for adults and missing the emotional content because they ARE little kids and lack the life experience to get the interpretive depth.

Come on, give yourself some credit. For a nine-year-old, that was a very stylish and brave performance.

Both are amazing performances, and the second is a lovely exception to the usual run of "contemporary" variations, which I normally find deadly boring and full of overdone dramatics. That business with the scarf is truly inspired.
