Shi Ho Hi - Four Corners
A basic kata that incorporates kicking, punching and some blocks.
@ItchyZebra This is Kempo karate. Every style has slight differences - when doing this kata we keep the downward blocking arm out. Chalk it up to a difference in style...

Shi Ho Hi - Four Corners
A basic kata that incorporates kicking, punching and some blocks.
This is actually the third kata that we learn - the first is 27 movements, then takiyoko shodan, then this one.
It's a good practice to learn the difference between styles - each style has it's benefits and drawbacks. Good to learn from all of them, as they all have wisdom. :)

Shi Ho Hi - Four Corners
A basic kata that incorporates kicking, punching and some blocks.
Officially it's Kempo. Having said that, the kata might appear in other styles too. Everybody does their stance slightly different - and people do their stance different at different times, so we shouldn't be so literal about our stances. :)

@ClockworkGidget Yeah, I suppose a guy of that stature probably did know what he was talking about. Could we chalk it up to a translation issue? :) Like you mentioned in your next comment, it's probably a variance between schools, but I just don't like when people come along and tell others th...

@nintendo2600 As far as I know, there are no such videos - the style is Kempo Karate, so there may be similarities with Chito Ryu, but not all the katas are the same.

@AndyRaslan There are a number of different karate styles and stances will differ based on the style. Wushu is Chinese martial arts, so the style will be even more different.
I wish people would stop worrying about "right" and "wrong". Every style has it's positives and negatives - there is ...

Your original comment was "u did it wrong". How was I misinterpreting you? You're not right. My point, the whole time, was because you're new to karate, you shouldn't go around telling people they're wrong...end of story.

@sabresbestfan Because you're a yellow belt, you shouldn't tell people they'll wrong - end of story. If you were trying to be nice, you gotta try harder. And as for "humility", perhaps you should look it up in the dictionary - I don't know if you know what it means, based on your response.

@AndyRaslan You're right, karate was inspired by the Chinese martial arts. From the little I know of Wushu, the stances are VERY low.
Anyway, in the video, it seems the instructor is quite low with the weight on his heels. Do you see otherwise? Hard to tell because it's shot from the front,...
