whilst this is a good cover, Evie Sands original is, (IMO) far better with a lot more feeling, and much as it grieves me both are better than the Hollies.

Looked through your posts, some really good stuff can't fault your tastes in any way.this is one of my favourite instrumentals ever, 5 star.

I played this around 5-6 years ago as an oldie on the Northern soul scene, brilliant track from the 70's played at Cleethorpes allnighters almost identical to Smith Brothers. awesome track thanks for posting, well done.

@Bierney45 you are correct I have it on Audio Arts this is the version released on CD in the 90's I'm pretty sure.

this is the US version and is far better than the re-recorded UK release thanks for posting awsome track.

The vocals on this are believe by Jenny (Janita) Haan but due to legal reasons another lead vocalist was on the UK release

No one under 45 would remember this but thanks for the post and associated memories anyone who heard this at the casino would (or should) have a shiver.

@WhitakerSJA sorry but the song was written by Mike D'Abo in 1967 and first recorded by Chris Farlow in the same year, Rod Stewart covered it in 1969 and had Mike D'Abo slightly rewrite it and produce it.

Hence Stereophonics cover is accurate.

@genesisisok the song was credited to Christie as writers on the label so I would guess they are one and the same

I was never a real fan of Joan Osborne till I saw Standing in the Shadows of Motown, had my eyes opened didn't I, what a voice, carry on Joan, black, white or whatever does it really matter.

This track, along with Tell me it's just a rumour (instrumental,) sum up THAT MOTOWN SOUND, absolute dynamite, as previously said it gets no better than this!
