About Me:
Country:
United States
Occupation:
Change Agent
Companies:
Comfort the afflicted and afflict the Comfortable, Inc.
Schools:
books, and more books, life, search for truth, enlightenment and understanding
Hobbies:
Reading non-fiction history, studying the historical Jesus and his lost message, writing, proselytizing, experimenting with life, finding God's work in the world, following Jesus' teachings to love my neighbor as myself by comforting the afflicted and afflicting the comfortable.
Movies:
Matrix trilogy-the most brilliantly made movies to date!, V for Vendetta, Apocalypse Now!, Micheal Moore documentaries, and any thoughtfully made movies and TV (which is rare these days).
Music:
all socially responsible music from rock, rap, blues, jazz ( I love some good jazz), to even some country western thanks to the Dixie Chicks.
Books:
The book that really changed my life was Henry David Thoreau's Walden; Ralph Waldo Emerson's essays Nature and Self-Reliance; Herman Melville's Moby Dick-the greatest novel ever written!; politically, I am influenced by prophetic intellectuals like Cornell West, Michael Eric Dyson, bell hooks and educational theorists Henry Giroux and Paulo Freire; my knowledge of Christian history comes from John Dominic Crossan, Marcus Borg and Elaine Pagels; the Holy Bible NIV, my devotion to God, as experienced through Jesus the Christ, comes from my parents who made me go to a small fundamentalist Baptist church when I was old enough to walk.
I'm not bragging, but I've read too many other good books to list them all. Every one of those books had an influence on me in some way. That is why I encourage others to read, read, read! BOOKS!

Finally here is a Christian that has soften me up a little! Kudos to you peacelf! I probably wouldn't sock you if I debated with you! You as a christian are on the right track. A true pacifist and a true follower of Jesus. As for me, well I can never be a pacifist as long as there are fundamentalist around trying to ruin secular law with religious non-sense. My mission is to keep this place safe and away from a theocracy. Just look at Muslim countries they are so back-ward, because of religious power.
