This is the Youtube account for the Cleveland, Ohio organization Peace in the Hood. This Youtube provides videos on important issues to urban living in Cleveland, Ohio and across the world.
Peace in the Hood grew out of the Coalition for a Better Life which was organized to address the myriad of challenges facing the African American and urban communities using a holistic and culturally specific programmatic approach.
Peace in the Hood was developed to confront and engage youth violence, crime and gang activity and solutionary coalitions. Peace in the Hood and other leaders from over 30 cities gathered in Kansas City in May 1993 for the First Nation Urban (Gang) Peace & Justice Summit and in June 1993 the National Council for Urban Peace & Justice was formed in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Council developed and implemented an urban peace and justice policy initiative which resulted in a 10% drop in crime, 25% drop in homicide and 25% drop in gang activities where the movement was established.
