Celtic Harp at Lorient 2008
Interceltic Festival of Lorient August 2008 - Celtic Harp Championship
@7DarkSayomi Folk harps have levers at the top of the strings that allow you to change their pitch. The harp only has diatonic strings (seven rather than twelve strings per octave, or kind of like only the white keys of a piano). For example, if you want to play a piece with both an F and an F#...

Two tunes contemporary with the design of this hurdy-gurdy which is based on an engraving by Jacques Callot (1622)
Do you still make this model? (wonderful performance by the way - I love the ornaments on La Volta).

Please, Hello
"Please, Hello" from Pacific Overtures, with the original cast in the 1976 television broadcast. Score by Stephen Sondheim, Book by John Weidman. ...
While I have to admit a fondness for Mako overall, the original production did seem overblown. I've seen several more stark ones, including a wonderful "in the round" version in Philadelphia, that had a stronger dramatic impact, and I thought brought more of the simple Japanese theater style int...

Very nicely done, and wonderful work to get the chromomatic scales off the pipe. It would never have occured to me to do the Lamento with pipe and tabor (tend to think of it as a vielle or plucked string piece, subtle and slow rather than energetic), but you pull it off exceptionally.

@Klezfiddle1 The body is made actually from a dyed gourd. The tortoise historically used (testuda marginata) is now a threatened species and would not appropriate. The gourds are about the same size and shape, but are not as rigid, so the arms cannot be wedged directly into as with the original...

Demonstration of a medieval citole copied from the Utrecht psalter, and performing two medieval German pieces - Tempus est iocundum and Palestinalied.
@conradleviston Because I've very rarely seen it depicted that way. Almost all of the iconography I have found shows individual strings, not courses. The 13th Century Summa Musica suggests tuning of d a d' g', again as four independent strings. Kate Buehler's reconstruction uses courses (base...

@IGOROZKARSKY It's tuned CGcg, with the low string one octave below middle C, or the same as the low C on a viola.

This was exceptionally well done (in a cool accoustic space). What is the range of the two tubes? Do they work like a tabor pipe in producing a full scale, or are each limited to the 5-6 notes of the direct fingering (with possible octave jumps) using the thumb hole? Just curious. Lovely ins...
