With the correct mechanisms, materials, and some portal-based safe-energy-release tech, it may be possible for the boots to absorb the momentum of the feet and knees (as opposed to the foot bones doing so), it's the momentum of the rest of the body which is the problem.

Very funky at beggining, then at 1:16, it gets all revolution hope anthem (which I love a bit of),then at about 1:42 it has some great beepy guitar stuff, altogtether it combines funkiness and uplift really nicely.
