Actually, he is throwing over the ball return as there are only 39 boards on the lane. If he did not loft it over the gutter he would be setting it down around 50-55. Since there aren't that many boards, you have to loft it. That is the only way you are going to swing the ball AND play 6th arrow.

I watched a special one time on Comedy Central about this. Some dude came up and said that Carlos stole one of his jokes. On comedy Central they played the joke from him and then Mencia. The same joke told by the other dude was just dumb. When Carlos said it, the same joke was funny.
