A guide to the calculations :) if R is the radius of the sphere, then you can see if you draw an illustration, then r is sqrt(R^2-9) (pythagorean theorem) so r^2=R^2-9, and because the cylinder has an altitude of 6, the altitudes of the two spherical caps are R-3, so h=R-3.
