The Beatles had split up for about five years by the time Captain Fantastic came out. In the early part of the sixties it was the done thing to release singles that were not on albums, by the mid seventies it was not all that common, but it still happened.

The male presenter was talking about this on the radio last night--apparently this took place on April Fool's Day, and the three of them were convinced it was a set-up, which is why Francie keeps looking to one side, and Dustin dis-appears for a while; but it was actually 100% genuine!
