Triple Platinum Recording Artist Paul Cooke of Sade fame. Some people refer to Paul as a legend after he formed the Band Sade in 1981 with two fellow musicians from his home town of Hull in the North of England. These three musicians went onto arrange, write and produce the music for what was one of Sade's biggest and most successful albums Diamond Life. I guess this is the kind of thing in pop music history that gets you that kind of referal...

Duude dont ya know? If your a US musician you DO get performance royalties from Europe and the RO the world! But you dont get paid by your own organisations in The US as they dont recognise the right for musicians in the USA to get performance payments on plays as compensation????. Its a shame that all the great black musicans cannot get paid for their performance in their own country and you guys now have a BLACK president who sings the blues??, Word up? For real.

Actually I left the band in 1984 mainly due to my primary values 1. I didnt appreciate the greed of the singer and the fact that she took the CBS deal and 60K advance for herself. 2. The drug taking by the band members and singer and by the bands manager and entourage. As explained in my book 'My Sade Story' Part 1out now as an ebook.

Actually we took the bands name from Helens real name Helen Folasade Adu - we used her nickname Sade for the groups name:)

Hi there :-)
Hi there Paul,

Do you have the original version of Smooth Operator on your You Tube page?

I have always been a huge lover of Sade and didn't realize till I found your channel yesterday that it was originally YOUR name and band, WOW!!!

SO I take you and 'Sade' are not on speaking terms. What a pity how everything all went down!

Your work from the Early 80s with her is seriously genius in my opinion, so rhythmic and all tied in with the whole Blue Rondo A La Turk kind of sound.

I am rather shocked that the name Sade was actually your band and then 'Helen' took the name Sade. I didn't even know her name was Helen. I knew she did stuff early on with a band from all the Early 80s copies of The Face magazine I have... Such interesting information INDEED!
