Protecting our freedom of thought is hard when images fly at us unmercilessly all day long in the new media deluge. Metaphors don't answer all of your questions but they do reach out into the splitting chunks of separation caused by us thinking our perception is somehow the end-all. All I can say is good luck with that viewpoint as change and development overtakes you, so encounter your denial wholeheartedly.
