I was a regular on the UK stand-up circuit until the mid nineties when I got fed up performing to drunken birthday parties, so I started writing for other people. I wrote my most recent show, and I now make internet videos, because I believe religion in the modern world is out of control and is given far too much respect by people who should know better. It enjoys a status it hasn't earned and doesn't deserve, and it's time we stopped pandering to it before it literally destroys us. You can find out more at my website.

If this was told to you at school this is completely incorrect and totally ignorant. As Martin said below, look up Evolution. Wikipedia has a simple to understand page.

As for life, as the comments below explains we have the massive diversity of life on Earth through Evolution. Life initially begun through Abiogenesis. Now I'll reword your question: What caused life? There is NO proof of god. Everything around us is a Theory, the highest elevation observations can get in science. God is only a HYPOTHESIS. See, a suggestion which has no evidence. Heaven? Prove that exists as well. Are you afraid of death? Yes is the answer. Believe my religion and you'll live forever. Powerful promize for the gullible death fearing people isn't it.
	martinkun167 (1 hour ago) samora18muslima, evolution of human beings has nothing to do with the 'monkeys in the zoo'; humans didn't evolve from any monkey or ape that exists today. We may be related to apes, but are not their direct descendants. You can go read this up even on wikipedia, and you'd more or less get an idea of human evolution. Also one more thing: evolution is not only about human beings. Evolution takes place in every living thing on this planet, which adapt and survive in their respective environments, and thereby evolve accordingly by attaining newer physical traits. Evolution/natural selection are not easy concepts to understand, so you have to take some time and read about them before you can grasp these concepts -- they are NOT a simple matter of common sense. Its not as simple as religion, where everything is magically created by God without any proper explanation as to HOW things were made.
