I listened to this song in 1967, while driving to McAlester, Oklahoma. Was struck by the name Billy Joe McAlester while we headed to a town of the same name. Bobbie Gentry sounded just as great then as the clip does now!

I liked their version of "Cherish", definitely their own sound, not to be confused with the Association. Great!

Saw them at the old Melody Top outside Chicago in 1979. They put on a great show. Their music was once described as "smooth as ice cream", which is defintiely a cool comment.

Great song. It hit the radio in January 1968 (along with "Classical Gas") and turtlenecks were just starting to be worn with blazers, sport jacket and suits, as in this video. Thanks for bringing it back!
