They didn't like this song much when it was first brought to them. LOL. Now it's a staple on the oldies stations, and they probably still get a nice royalty check for it.

"Day-cron" suits- LOL! But the music is supplied by Les Paul and Mary Ford. So there is a balance between ridiculous and sublime (sort of).

Sonny met Cher when she was singing in the chorus on the Spector recordings. This clip is wonderfully old and corny, and I wish there were more of them.

My brother and I watched Modern Farmer 'cos were already gearheads while still in primary grades. We watched the Paul Terry cartoons 'cos (I think) they came on right after MF on NBC-TV in NY. What a lesson in music they were- corny 50s stock music, along with Bizet, Mendelssohn, and Count Basi...

Because many American chat shows are about the host, especially Letterman's. Johnny Carson is still the standard for that genre in America. Yet, no matter how they try, no one can be as intimate with a guest as he could be. No wonder that the newer hosts' ratings are not nearly as high as his were.

A radio station in New York used to play British stuff every Friday, around the time these guys, Ultravox, and OMD were making the charts in Britain. They were a welcome change from Styx, Foreigner, Journey, and the rest of what passed for rock in the USA back then.

Howard Stern used to play this back in the 80s on his local and network radio shows. It's still a hoot.
