parkdrive launched their self-titled debut album on the 11th of August 2005, with their first hit-single "Sekedar Cerita". They received an immediate warm welcome from Indonesian music lovers and the media alike, with their CD sales reaching up to 3000 copies in just 3 months. Quite impressive noting that their release is under an indie-label.
Although the group has never performed live prior from their release, just five days after they finished producing their clip, they were instantly made MTV Exclusive artist of August 2005. Aside from having generous airplay on MTV, they appeared on the network's other exclusive shows and interviews. Their hit-single "Sekedar Cerita" soon became a popular request and climbed up the charts in several national radio stations. Parkdrive, made up of two Berklee College of Music graduates, Rayen and Juno, teamed with Mikuni's unique vocals, continues to make various appearances and interviews in press formats, radio and television.
Their fresh and new sound in the Indonesian music industry led them to collaborate with well known local musicians of the same genre, such as Rieka Roeslan and Ali Akbar from "The Groove", Philipe from "The Sixth Element", and Glen Fredly, both in the studio and in their live shows. One of their works with Glen "Selalu Tersenyum" can be found in the soundtrack of the movie "Cinta Silver".
parkdrive's subtle mix of pop and jazz has allowed their music to be accepted in a wide range of music listeners. They have played different types of shows varying from yearly high school and campus music shows, product and company events, all the way up to prestigious jazz gatherings such as the Bali Jazz Festival 2005, Jazz Goes to Campus 2005, and even in the recent Java Jazz International Jazz Festival in March 2006. check us out at www.gowamusic.com for more info!!
