I have it and I'm 40. When I was 29 I went in because I had the normal symptoms of shortness of breath and chest pain...they told me I simply had exertional asthma. A few weeks ago my heart went into Atrial Fibrilation which lead to my eventual diagnosis of HOCM.

Not that it matters but I am white. Not all the time, but sometimes people pull the race card out too quickly. Perhaps this is the reason she lead her statement so that someone couldn't just say to her "OH you just don't like him cause he is black"
