My life was and continues to be the daily life of people , of a whole nation and that what is making it so particular . its the life of living under control and power of an enemy , of a stranger who doesnt believe in your right to live , to breath , to work , to educate , even to sing or dance...ect
Grown in a small town on the borders with the enemy's newly established state - where are the olive trees , oranges , apples and all kinds of fruits , cold in winter and dry and humid in summer , 10 minutes away from the sea and 5 minutes away from the eccupation state , simple life and basic supplies , basic services , basic education , most people are hardly managing their living , most of them either farmers or teachers , some are engineers who mostly without work , most children are playing in the streets , the most rich of them may have a bike , as a child , I though this is the life every where , I used to love our games with the kids next door , it was the most joyful , I though all children are living simple life like us , all living this poor life , all dreamed to have swimming pool to play in the summer long days , all are living in a houses where you can feel the cold in its walls , and feel the humidity and hottest days of July , I though all kids in the world dont have back yard to play in , dont have parks to safely ride their bike , all dont have bus to drop them school in the days of the heavy rains , I though this is the life every where !, where you dont have a president to speak on your behave , dont have a government to offer you jobs and services , to build descent schools and to provide jobs and money to the pours , where dont have a police or army to protect you . I though this is the normal life situation because I wasnt discovered the outside world , simply because I didnt have the means to show me what Is else there ,we didnt have TVs , libraries with diverse books, or airport to travel with my family.
Decades passed and people still living same way , little developments , still remain their silence and they still have no citizenship , they were still not defined on the world map since their country was occupied by strangers , their country name was replaced by another name ,they were trapped by strangers who took their homes , holy places , controlled their seas and all of the natural resources , took away their air and sea ports , libraries , theaters , every thing , they were defined by numbers , the IDs which the enemy provide them with , if they wanted to preach or pray , to travel ,to build , to establish business , to do any simple thing they have to take the permission of the enemy .
Decades passes , people waited for Gods mercy , for angles to rescue them , to help them , to provide them with the faith and patience to survive , they waited for the change , a change from the occupier , the roller on their life to treat them differently , ..they didnt resist , they waited for the enemys mercy to give them a citizenship , to consider them a humans , to at least , acknowledge their rights in the land , to stop arresting them , prison them for no reasons , but unfortunately none of their enquires were met , they got nothing good , in the contrary , they got more and more humiliation , control and abuses , this is the only thing they got !.
I cannot forget that summer night in 1985 when we with our neighbors were having a peaceful and lovely evening on front of our house , I was a child around 9 years old , we were chatting having tea and telling funny story when the enemy soldiers had made it nightmare , they had started questioning us and abusing the men , they took them a way and stated beating them for no reason , I went inside home to hide because I was scared from them , I though they may kill me , I felt that night is endless because I waited for my family to come in longer and longer , but the enemy couldnt let them until they decided after 3 hours of investigation , that night was a shock for me , it was the first time to meet face to face with the occupier , that night had arisen many question in my head about the soldiers who were living with us on daily basis , who we used to see them more than seeing our friends or relatives , who treat us with moodiness and hatred .
Just 2 years later ,I my self still remember that day in 1987 , it was one of the winter cold days , our family was preparing for the wedding of my ankle , I was so happy , I used to love weddings , it was the most thing where I could see people happy , singing , dancing , the only reason which makes people laugh , and greet each other , show happiness for each other , for me wedding was a chance to watch and live all the traditions of cooking big meals , dancing of Dabkeh , singing and ....
