About Me:

The Oslo Freedom Forum is a global gathering founded to address the world's most challenging humanitarian issues. Each year, the event unites some of the world's most remarkable individuals to raise international awareness, network, inspire participants, and shed light on the extraordinary work of little-known innovators across the world.

2011 speakers included Iranian Nobel Laureate Shirin Ebadi, Ghanaian economist George Ayittey, former president of Colombia Belisario Betancur, North Korea expert and journalist Barbara Demick, Egyptian analyst Mona Eltahawy, American neuroscientist James Fallon, Chinese dissident Yang Jianli, Harvard political theorist Steven Levitsky, Canadian free speech champion John Ralston Saul, Nobel Peace Prize-winning activist Jody Williams, and Bahraini rights activist Maryam al-Khawaja.

Speakers at the Oslo Freedom Forum 2010 included Uyghur leader Rebiya Kadeer, North Korean dissenter Kang Chol-Hwan, former FARC hostage Clara Rojas, and Sudanese reformer Lubna al-Hussein. World leaders like Poland's Lech Walesa, Malaysia's Anwar Ibrahim, and Estonia's Mart Laar presented, as did technology pioneers such as Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, and entrepreneur Peter Thiel. Other notable speakers included Russian democracy advocate and chess master Garry Kasparov, Peruvian economist Hernando de Soto, abolitionist and explorer Benjamin Skinner, former Cuban political prisoner Armando Valladares, and Chechen lawyer Lidia Yusupova, hailed as the bravest woman in Europe.

The Oslo Freedom Forum 2009 was a conference to put human rights on center stage, focusing mainly on the impact literature has on promoting noble purpose and inspiring millions into action. The 2009 conference included participation by Elie Wiesel, Greg Mortenson, Jung Chang, Palden Gyatso, Leyla Zana, and Václav Havel.

Mr George Ayitta has great strategy for removing dictators from a Nation point of view. The issues are more complex when it comes to black colonial powers like in Ethiopia. Coalition building is difficult when one segment of the population believes in annhilation of a popultion within the territory. They took Oromo and banned the language. They renamed our cities to Abyssinian names. They moved armed settlers to rural parts of Oromo, Ogaden, Sidama, Gambella (southern nations) much like the case of Sudan. Coalition is only with those that have mutual respect for each other's cultures. Gadaan Nubaasa

Mr. Vincent Manoharan from India has made a powerful and emotional presentation with full of authenticated statistics step by step narrating the sufferings of the dalits in India. Though Government has enacted various laws to protect their interests, the enforcement is not so effective. Let us hope, the voice of Mr vincent Manoharan and others like him, reaches the ears of authorities concerned to bring social justice and equality
