Oscine Trio is an international ensemble of three young and talented artists recognized for their invigorating and energetic performances that have taken the classical music world by storm. Japaneseclarinetist Maiko Sasaki, Israeli-American cellist Reenat Pinchas, & South African pianist Eugene Joubert, are dedicated to creating exciting and innovative ways to communicate musically with audiences around the world. Their diverse international backgrounds translate to their musical style providing a fusion of Asian, Middle Eastern, and South African influences. The Oscine Trio made their debut performance in 2007 performing Olivier Messiaen's apocolyptic Quartet for the End of Time. Praised for their depth, sensitivity, and mature style of music making,
they have since dazzled audiences with their original interpretations of varied musical genres. Their passion for exploring music beyond classical borders has led to upcoming collaborations with prominent
international composers who have commissioned works specifically for the trio. Oscine, the French term for songbird, was directly inspired by Olivier Messiaen's statement, "The bird is the symbol of freedom. We walk, he flies. We make war, he sings." This symbol of freedom
has inspired the trio to bring music across borders. The Oscine Trio is dedicated to creating musical dialogue and sparking cross-cultural understanding and harmony in communities throughout the world.
Currently in preparation for a world tour, the trio plans to travel to underdeveloped communities across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and the United States working directly with young people who are faced
with hatred and discrimination spreading a message of tolerance and equality through music. All ensemble members of Oscine Trio are current students at The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University where they have worked closely with world renowned artists such as Lynn Harrell and
Brian Connelley.
