The one of the differences between Japanese and Korean lies in sense of honor, honesty, shame and self control. The foundations of ethic based on culture and history.

Japanese ethic is mostly constructed by Bushido, Shintoism, Buddhism and Confucianism. Koreans by Extreme Confucianism and recent Christianity.

In Korea, its concidered ethical to protect siblings. Sometimes to the point that when the sibling has committed crime, they are still to be on his side. In order to protect him, it can be accepted amongst Korean to lie and often time there is no remorse for it.

After President Rhee(Lee) Syngman, the end of Korean War in 1953, and Coup de tat in 1961, S. Korea was under the Military Regimes until 1993.

During the regimes and before, Nationalism and Propaganda were largely enforced.

S. Korean gov. still issue textbooks for all the schools from 1st-12th grade. Only recently, they decided to change the policy and it will be 2010, the new policy finally be enforced.
