Interestingly, this scene isn't meant to run in one go. In the screenplay, every few lines we cut away to a simultaneous scene going on as Hannaford's entourage are setting off to his birthday party.

@cagwa It's *meant* to be mumbo-jumbo. This is one of the films-within-the-film - it's a documentary by a pretentious film-maker, making a film about the subject of the film. But as you say, it's not been cut yet. I would LOVE to see a full cut of this 'lost' movie.
