I'm sorry for the carrier and her family, but the management's comments made me mad. In Colorado, the policy is to keep carrying until hit; near misses don't count. The trucks are even worse. Do to being made out of aircraft aluminum, lightning bolts burn right through the metal.

And your point? Guess what, chains spark! Guess what, mail trucks don't go on ice without chains! Guess what, mail trucks get stuck when they go slow on snow! Bet you din't complain that you received mail that day.

Been there. Yes the driver was going to fast. But due to their design, once a mail truck starts sliding, it wont stop until it hits something. He should have had his chains on.

The problem is not "getting going". The problem is going forward without sliding into and taking out the mailbox that is 6 inches from the side of the truck. Well done.

I admit, I laughed when you see him jump when he realises the truck is rolling. This is a runaway (driver left motor running) compared to rollaway (engine off, parking brake failed). This probably cost the driver his job.
