Respond to this video... Jonas has a voice full of color...he has a dark, baritonal quality that is pleasing to hear, rather than the typical, bright, often pinched, squillo we are all-too-used to hearing sing larger repertoire. You can go ahead and say that to you it sounds like he's singing...

@svik65 This, and a live Richter performance, are my preferred recordings of this sonata...the Barenboim was my first exposure to this piece, and with all due respect to the Maestro who has many wonderful qualities and a superb technique, I was left very cold by that recording and this sonata too...
