Home of Modern Agonistics

Modern Agonistics is not a fighting style in the traditional sense, but rather a format for a combination of freestyle full contact stickfighting and machete bouts that seek to recreate the gladiatorial experience of days long past. Modern Agonistics offers a safe and prolific environment that promotes increased knowledge in weapon sparring and patterns in violent altercations involving weapons. Through Modern Agonistics, we hope to gain an understanding of how duelists and gladiators faced one another when weapons--primarily Greco-roman in nature--were employed, as well as adequately prepare for altercations on the street where bladed instruments may be used.

We are based in the Baltimore Metropolitan area, and typically practice once a week. Tournaments are held at least once a year, and all respected combatants are welcome. Input is greatly appreciated, and watching our practices is welcome--hence why we upload regularly.
