Short video from the ONS looking at graduates in the labour market.
It shows how over the past decade the percentage of recent graduates working in lower skilled jobs in the economy has risen from 26.7 per cent in 2001 to around 35.9 per cent in 2011. The number of recent graduates has increased by around 41 per cent over the past decade.
It then shows how the recent recession has impacted most on the employment rate for recent graduates compared to all graduates and non-graduates.
It then focuses on graduate earnings by degree subject studied and shows that graduates with a degree in medicine/dentistry earn the most at around £21.29 per hour. Graduates with an arts degree earn the least at £12.06 per hour. Non-graduates earn around £8.92 per hour.
Finally it looks at unemployment rates for recent graduates since 1992 and shows that new gradautes (those graduating 2 years previous) have the highest unemployment rates.

Short video looking at the youth unemployed in the UK.
It shows how employment rates for young people (16 to 24) not in full-time education were similar to people aged 22 to 64 from 1992 to 2004.
Since 2004 the employment rate for young people has fallen while the rate for those aged 22 to 64 is fairly similar.
Young people are working mainly in sales/customer service jobs or elementary occupations such as bar staff, waiters and waitresses. 92% work part-time if they are still studying and 25% work part-time if they are no longer in full-time education.
Young women are more likely to work than young men if they are in education but the reverse occurs for those not in education.
Finally young people earn around 42 per cent less than their older counterparts, £7.01 vs £12.00 per hour excluding overtime.
