Apparently this was commissioned by the Howdy Doody producers, but Buffalo Bob Smith hated it. and it was never broadcast on the show. It was considered lost until a copy was recently found in the Library of Congress. Frankly, this is a lot better than the show was.

Good catch. The older Toshiba's were great sets. If you know how to solder, you should resolder the pins on the vertical IC, the horizontal drive transformer and any other solder joint that looks stressed. Not much else goes wrong with them.

@LovingScrubbies I think because the animated effects were not effective visually and done strictly as a cost savings measure by Columbia (probably utilizing their cartoon animation division). The TV effects, especially those done by Thol (SI) Simonson were very well done for that time.
