Quincy Jones "Love Me By Name"
Off 1978 "Sounds and Stuff like That" with the "other" Patti, that is Patti Austin singing this beautiful rendition written by Leslie Gore with the...
@LamontCJ True. I'm a Patti Austin fan more so than Michael Jackson, but upon initial hearing I could hardly decipher who was who on their duet "It's the falling in Love" on Michael's "Off the Wall" LP.

Quincy Jones - Takin' It To The Streets (feat. Luther Vandross, Gwen Guthrie & Michael Brecker)
From "Sounds....And Stuff Like That!!"
Thanks to Patti Austin, the vocal contractor on this album. This was the first time I heard Luther Vandross and Gwen Guthrie sing solos, and for me one their best vocal performances. This was after years of reading their names as background vocalist.

minnie riperton sing the reasons for my life are in a million faces
@taeatl You're correct many can match her range. What IMO makes Minnie special is that I haven't heard anyone in popular music that matches her control, clarity and enunciation. No doubt Rachelle Ferrell has a tremendous voice. As of yet I haven't heard anyone who can surpass (popular music)...

Thanks for posting, great vocal cover of Herbie Hancock's song. Redd, Hedwig & Crossley made a damn good LP. Glad you made the David Rubinson connection. I think the best Pointer Sisters albums and Labelle album (Chameleon) shows both groups best vocal work. As well as Patti LaBelle best solo...

Jennifer Hudson - If You Believe in Yourself (from The Wiz)
NetFlix Event in CP
For my hears the definitive version is sung by Dee Dee Bridgewater, the reason she won the Tony for her performance in the original Broadway version of The Wiz. Bridgewater also did a better (IMO) version of "If this what Feeling Gets," from the movie.

As stated before Lonette McKee performed her characters vocals in Sparkle. She can also be heard singing in the movies "Round Midnight (How Long Has This Been Going On?) and Cotton Club (Ill Wind). Her first LP "Words and Music," (she wrote the songs) is excellent. Lonette McKee is "real" ta...

Patti Labelle - Funky Music
1977 - Epic Records
Producer: David Rubinson and Friends. Same producer of LaBelle's Chameleon album, early Pointer Sister's Albums, Redd, Hedwig and Crossley album and others. For my ear's Patti's first two LPs are her best.

@warri1000 It is my favorite version too... and I have a few versions by some excellent singers, Nancy Wilson, Janis Siegel, Chaka Khan, et al.

"no child was traumatized by this..."
I agree. What is harmful about a nude human body? Nudity is not sex and sex is is not wrong unless, IMO, it is nonconsensual or forced in an unequal (mental or physical) manner.
It still does amaze me that folks "thinking" (if that's wha...
