The Neighborhood Writing Alliance (NWA) offers free, weekly writing workshops for adults living in underserved neighborhoods throughout Chicago.
The workshops are held in libraries and in community and social service centers across the city. Each week, writers share their everyday experiences, personal histories, and reflections on their communities through writing and discussion. Four times a year, select pieces from the writing workshops are published in the Journal of Ordinary Thought. NWA writers perform at 30-35 events each year.
NWA's motto is "Every Person Is a Philosopher."
