About this user
Born in 1978, Nuno Cruz started to play the guitar at the age of ten. Always playing in several bands and genres, at the age of sixteen, he produced an EP with his band mates, which was distributed worldwide and considered by the Swedish review as "the most promising project coming from Portugal". Later the band split up, and Nuno went on to pursue other goals in Music -- he started composing music for children's theatrical plays, therapeutic theatre, as well as jingles for web sites and radios.
Later Nuno went to University to study psychology, and ended his degree with a scientific research in the field of psychology of music. This research was the first, and remains to date the only ever made in Portugal.
During his University years, Nuno joined a covers band and toured extensively through the major club scene. Since then, he has worked with bands from both major and independent labels as producer, guitarist, arranger and composer, worked for TV as producer/composer, had his music released in CD compilations, made international tours as a classical guitarist, and dedicates his free time as a private educator of music theory and both classical and electric guitar studies.
In 2007 Nuno moved to Switzerland, where he had previously toured. Since early 2009, Nuno Cruz works almost exclusively as a film composer. He has scored a range of short, experimental and feature films, including documentaries, comedy and animation. He has worked with Ian Silett (Disney), Noah Sife (The Shield) William Denver (The Beatles: The First U.S. Visit) Jim Wynorski (Chopping Mall). Alongside his thriving career in film scoring, he is finishing a thirty movement orchestral suite.
