Ive been into Hip Hop since 1984. After watchin a documentary on Hip Hop & hearing Grandmaster Melle Mels "Beat Street Breakdown" it just blew me away. Over here in the UK, the culture started to fade about early 87-ish, but thats when Hip Hop's Golden Age was born. As the months rolled on into 88', albums & 12s were droppin all over the place, and goin into my local record store with £10- £15, was no-where near enough. Any one who knows True Hip Hop knows this, and it ran to at least 1993/ 94 time...and thats when the music started to go downhill. For me 87- 93 was the best yrz for Hip Hop music, although in general im a fan of old school, so really anything from when it started right through to 93 was Hip Hop..I still buy the odd joint that drops, but it is VERY, VERY rare you get some top notch shit these days. And that is why i still, and will alwayz listen and buy vinyl from the Golden Era, no doubt! We've alwayz said do Hip Hop from the heart and dont do it for the money. But i hear so many artists say we need to get back to the old sound, Hip Hops Golden Age. So thats what we need to do...BRING IT BACK!PEACE!
old Westwood joint here...still fresh!
