There is a problem with my Macbook Pro. The Audio port constantly flickers red (it's finding an optical connection) and interrupts my audio.

This is apparently a problem with OS X because the tone can still be heard when booting. System profiler can see them, but preferences cannot.

I went to the Apple Store and Best Buy and got a Western Digital My Book 1TB, and printer! As well as mess with ever mac and iPod in the store!
