NORMA JEANS SUN
Author/Artist Kris Courtney
Cincinnati, OH, December 2009: Available for immediate purchase; nationally distributed through Amazon.com. Miraculous tale of how a boy, born into unimaginable physical and emotional pain and destined to be a misfit, finds his way in a world of others. Few could survive so many torturous years of surgical intervention and a ensuing lifelong struggle with drugs and alcohol addiction and come out ahead. This moving tale reveals not only the struggle and heartrending elements of generational lives gone wrong, but also the love and growth of a human being overcoming the odds and determined to find a way to live life to the fullest. Based on a true story, the authors unapologetic prose prompts enduring ethical questions and makes a gripping, personal read.
About Me:

An artist in spirit and gift, Kris Courtney has lived much of his life in the Midwest and currently resides and works in Oxford, Ohio. Surrounded by talent and gifted students of life, he is dedicated to service and volunteer work. A percentage of the earnings from Norma Jeans Sun book will go to research for Parkinsons disease and colon cancer in recognition of the illnesses that attacked his grandmother Flossie and his mother, Norma Jean.

With artwork displayed nationally, regional awards and the release of my Novel, I am very excited about the exposure YouTube offers. As my body continues to fail in life, my hopes grow with each day offering a new chance to serve. I hope that your visit here, leads you on a good direction.

This newly edited release of Norma Jean's Sun will certainly exceed expectations. The story is not only convincingly true, but will rivet the reader with its genuine and unassuming pathos. Norma Jean's Sun is painfully reflective yet ultimately hopeful, a story told through the eyes of a boy who believes he has been mistakenly born into the world and a man who conquers physical and emotional injustice--and thrives. The reader will be challenged to answer the difficult questions of right and wrong as they may apply to his or her own life. It is clear that it is the hope of this author that the reader's conclusions will lead to a more fulfilled view of the "parallel beauty that lives just beneath the surface for us all."

As you read this review, I encourage all who may judge harsh to understand my efforts are self supporting. In addition, my financial reach is limited for obvious reasons. Please consider a purchased copy.

This is an artistic un-edited labor of love. It is my hope that you will read to understand and perhaps find a message of humility and kindness. I share this journey with complete raw disclosure from my soul, not to gain fame.

As noted, I hope I have helped.

Excerpt:
My emotions cold and evaporated from view, familiarly
similar to my Father before, left me as sober and stale as I had ever been.

As the story unfolds, the trail leads further down a path of distortion...

May 2009: Bethesda Medical Facility in West Chester, Ohio awards Artist Kris Courtney two separate selections.
With completion of the Mary Jo Cropper Family Center in July, the artwork selected will be installed prior to the Grand Opening. In our effort to create a warm and personalized environment, we will promote creative arts in Greater Cincinnati - as recognized and valued.

Road King and Passing represent two of my more emotional and colorful works to date. With Passing becoming the Image used as the Cover to my Novel, Norma Jeans Sun; I could not be more excited about the extended view this award will offer.

A fall afternoon with the same breeze of moist leaves skirting across the yard that had once shown promise of hope greeted me as I left for the
airport. My task was to arrive at deaths door. I beckon the belief that most have when challenged to this degree and again presented a facsimile of a 207
normal man. Except this time, I would not return the same and all who saw knew the last moral fiber connecting me to a human existence was pull to its
breaking point. The taxi ride from the Terminal was all so surreal and quiet. Asking in my mind for the car to drive past but inside expectantly afraid of
what I will witness this time I enter the room. A room closely watched by Devil and God alike.

Just as this ripple in a family history grew to a wave of fear, so would the excitement and stature of the individuals who witnessed. Every child who heard the whispers and tears at night through the upstairs register. The sound travels far inside a home. Sound then seen as care transforms into love for those involved. Later from experience, each members future carried a scar from harms done by others. One would hope that our past allows us to shape and control the next step. To avoid the dangers, foolish errors and mistakes that echoed by the generation before. No, instead the path in view is inviting with mystery, colors of gold and silver with sounds of laughter and joy. Never in our silent moments of illusion do we sense the dark parallel that lives next to us. Nor do we suspect the carrier.
