man rap isnt about singing and instruments, if it was it would just be rock lol basically its poetry and is all about the lyrical content and how an mc can flow (rhythm) over the beat! you'd be surprised but it actually takes a lot of talent and skill to write a decent rhyme that is intellectual, has deep meaning and uses complex rhythms. If you tried it would probably sound fucking shit (no offence) but only because you have no expereince of it hence it requires talent and skill =-) btw any of the shit that you'll see on mtv isn't proper rap its just shitty club/rnb tunes. dig deep to find the pure hip hop =-)
