Quick note: boiler should be water pressure tested (2xworking pressure), pressure gauge, water glass and safety valve installed (set to 1/2 tested pressure. I did not see much steam release in that explosion so I suspect it was very low on water and the solder then melted. Even soft solder melts ...

@eharm2net I haven't found that a problem, you have to open the throttle quite a bit to get rolling, then nearly close it once your underway. if it still gains (if there is a slope) then play with the reverser, thankfully you can put a steamer into full reverse position at anytime and is variable...
