My name is Darin
I'm originally from the mid-west but now living in NYC.

I've been playing drums and keyboards for a long time. I started taking piano lessons at the age of seven. My parents got the hint real quick that I had a real interest in playing the drums though (I kept stealing my moms pots and pans and lids to make my own drumset). So they got me started with drum lessons.

I was always in band and orchestra throughout grade school, junior high and high school. Getting the chance to play all the tuned percussion was a real treat. Of course I was in many rock groups as well, at least in my junior high, high school years. Trying to keep a group of young musicians together is very tricky. It got even more trickier as I got older.

I was very fortunate to meet some great players and get a chance to spend considerable time in a studio environment. That was where my true talent came out. Learning all that I could on how to setup the studio, mic the drums, guitar amps, etc..

After taking a very long break from playing the drums. I decided that with youtube and other sites that making videos of me playing to the songs that I grew up on and a few newer ones would be something that i would really enjoy.

I've had a few different drum sets over the years. The current one is a Yamaha Stage set with an added 18" floor tom. Recently I've been visiting the local Guitar Center and looking at the sale items and surprisingly found some great deals on cymbals. I recommend it highly.

I've been using Final Cut Pro for the last 10 years and last year upgraded to the suite. This package includes Soundtrack Pro which is what I've been using to record the drums with. It's an amazing piece of software.
