because Jeremy redmore is a good singer? yeah hes not so bad, not that ive ever heard him sing anything actually impressive, but he hits the notes so hes a better singer than he is a songwriter.
the beats are mediocre and the chords are simple
On the whole its nothing music, its innoffensive and the singer is a lame poser poet, so unless you know what to look for it can be hard to tell why theyre terrible
I have taste and though i would say that midnight youth dont have taste, im not neccesarily saying that you dont, its all very inoffensive and if your not too bright or not paying attention than you might not notice that they are a really terrible band, so if you would like to tell me why you think they are good please do

BANAL BANAL BANAL, almost shockingly banal and words like "fly with me in my reverie" ok so thats no bad that hes implied that hes so happy he feels like hes flying, thats a banal but atleast SLIGHTLY descriptive way of describing an overwhelming joy, which he is obviously feeling now that he has left the vague place or state of mind to enter the new vague place or state of mind.

Now I could do this or all of there songs and clearly explain why they are such a terrible band but ive written alot already, so maybe youd like to tell me why it is that you think theyre good?
because they're poetic? No, they just sound poetic but its not poetic, its fake, poser poetry and thats very sad.

in all this vagueness it is pretty funny that he specifies that he has been gone for 90 days (i suppose that souunds a little poetic, i would imagine that would be the intention) finally
So as for "fly with me in your reverie, your all i have here to hold" So yeah, hes happy in this vague new place that he hasnt given me any suitable description to imagine and this one and only thing to hold, this vague person i suppose we're meant to imagine as ourselves, that kinda contradicts the apparent loveliness of this new place hes reached, which I suppose isnt a physical place but a mental state, its too vague to say.

So my second point is the vagueness again, vague and a comlete failure as far as imagery goes.
"in my spanish springtime" is a robert frost reference to Natures as green as gold.which is great though i suspect he didnt understand a word of it, anyway its more poetic sounding garbage that means nothing but makes the song sound deep to people who arent paying attention or just arent too bright. hes working at creating an image of escaping and reaching a happy and bright place but he doesnt really paint a picute, i mean i get the gist of the idea but all i know is that he left a place where he was stuck away from something he doesnt specify and escapes to another place he doesnt specify with a person he doesnt specify and that this has something to do with being indoors then out doors (which may not be literal but a lyrical dynamic as bad as the bands musical dynamics)

"Ninety days I have left here
In, grass that's greener than gold
Fly with me in my reverie
You're all I have here to hold"
so the first i want to congratulate him that hes actually managed to use some alliteration, good stuff i bet he strained himself figuring some word play out.
BUT the first thing youll see when you read this is that the flow is off, the first line contains too many syllables and it screws the rythm of the stanza right of the bat.
Now I dont think i really need to mention how banal these lyrics are, its obvious, im sure even to you.

"But breezing, through my Spanish springtime, the keys to freedom, they fall to me, they're making me believe"
so wow, we can clearly see how lame and trite this is from first glance but "through my spanish springtime", though it sound poetic, it clearly means nothing and does no help in creating any kind of image, which you think would be an aim of mr deep and poetic here, but in fact all of his lyrics are vague and create no imagery, I would like to call the lyrics "phonetic garble" but frankly the lyrics are phonetically unpleasant, there is a compete lack of any kind of alliteration or rhythm

So thats obviously just one element but its a good signal to highlight a mediocre group.
but what really makes midnight youth complete garbage is the lyrics
Midnight youths lyrics are thin, very lame, mock inspirational stories with sprinkles of unneccessarry, inaffective poetic SOUNDING words to make them sound deep to people like you, but if you listen or read them, you can tell they mean and do nothing.
here is an example

midnight youth is utter garbage, and I am able to demonstrate why.
Firstly dynamics, this is a good way to tell whether a band is thinking or not because even a basic quiet - loud dynamic between verse and chorus will have sufficient affect on the listener.
Midnight youth use a quiet- loud and talksing verses against sustained notes in the chorus,
a good band thinks about dynamics in timbre, through out the whole song, adding and subtracting different tones and timbres and beats. this is a good way to tell a good band because its not super neccessary, any average band (e.g midnight youth) can get by on basic quiet loud dynamics but with more complex dynamics a person can listen to a song and discover more and more as they repeat listen, also its more beautiful and still has that "get into it" affect that quiet-loud has.
