At the tender age of 16, singer-songwriter Nick Celino has accomplished more than many musicians at his age can hope for in their early careers, having achieved many feats such as supporting Joe McElderry, playing The Evolution Festival, gaining a Scholarship at The Sage Gateshead, being approached by Universal Music to pitch for Greyson Chance, all while enjoying an ever-growing fan base with fans from all over the world. Nick relies upon his natural talent and has not had professional vocal tuition to date.
In July 2008, the 13 year-old's mother uploaded his very first YouTube clip of Nick performing Duffy's "Mercy" at a local recording studio within his hometown of Newcastle Upon Tyne, England; since then Nick has received over 24,000 views to date purely from word of mouth. He then went on to meet Duffy herself and sang to her at her Newcastle gig back in 2009 where he sang "Silent Night"; she stated, "Your voice is going to make you a lot of money one day!" She then went on to say, "If I ever come back to Newcastle you can sing with me - please email me, Nick." Nick is still in regular contact with her management to date.
Nick then went on to enter the regional singing competition, Live And Unsigned. While other performers and bands had been taking singing lessons and had vocal coaches and had the benefit of experience, Nick had only the experience of singing around the house with the guidance of his mother. He was only 13 years old when he successfully made it through to the Regional final. One of the judges was asked who stood out in the final and went on to say, "Nick Celino stood out. When this boy opened his mouth and sang, he blew me away."
Nick later went on to gain a scholarship at the prestigious Sage Gateshead, support Joe McElderry The Newcastle City Hall in front of 2,500 as well Nick playing at The Evolution festival attended by 40,000 with the likes of Tinie Tempah, Plan B, Katy B, Example, and Iggy Pop. He was even asked by Universal Music to pitch to Greyson Chance; Universal now want to write and produce with Nick.
A year later Nick went on you play The Irn Bru Festival at The Secc Arena in Glasgow with the like's of One Direction as well playing at The Newcastle City Hall again but this time supporting the multi platinum selling Band The Soldier's.
The future, Nick leaves in God's hands.
