Biography

A hot new addition to the South African music scene, Nic Billington is setting an exciting new standard for SA talent and the world alike.

At 14 years of age Nic started drama lessons and joined the school choir. It was there he met a fellow friend that eagerly shared the same interests in music. Their friendship eventually culminated into the formation of now defunct group, The Verdict.

In 2007, Nic started taking vocal lessons at Williams-Ros Studios and performed for his very first time as a solo act in a show at Ushaka Marine World.

Determined to forge ahead in this cutthroat industry Nic decided to take a different approach when it came to reaching his fans. His ingenious plan of creating covers of popular music videos and broadcasting them on Youtube has gathered Nic a huge fan base worldwide.

By creating covers for YouTube, Nic has managed to obtain way over 150 000 views. Not bad for an independent project that he started by himself, in his room with just a camera and a computer. With the massive online support that he receives, Nic has been making his own breaks in this cut throat industry.

In October 2008, American pop singer, Britney Spears, and her team hand picked a Nic Billington cover and featured it on her official website (www.britneyspears.com).

East Cost Radio jock, Trevor Williams, insisted that Nic take part in his latest compilation CD, titled Trevor Williams Vol 2. The album features a track from Nic called Hazard. The song was produced by Nic himself and was recorded with fellow friend and R&B musician, Verd. The album hit stores in December and went straight to the number 1 spot in selected music stores across Southern Africa.

DJ Roxxi recently released her debut offering entitled "Away. The catchy electro funk piece, which features Nic Billington on vocals, is a radio friendly track that has been given the magical touch in production by Craig Massiv, of the hugely popular South African group Flash Republic. The song was made available on www.djroxxi.com, in the form of a free download. The very idea of releasing the song online sent shockwaves through the music industry community.

Nic was also selected by Cleo Magazine, as one of Cleos 50 Most Eligible Bachelors for 2009.

His immense talent coupled with his charm and youthful enthusiasm will leave you in no doubt that we have a new voice, a new sound and the epitome of an artist for the millennium, a true poet for a new time.
