Today, after more than half a century of the communist dictatorship (56 years in the North and 35 years over unified Vietnam), Vietnam has become one of the most backward countries in the world!

According to World Bank Report 2009 - Vietnam's economy when compared to those of neighboring Asian countries:

"If these rates are considered, then indeed IT TAKES A VERY LONG TIME FOR VIETNAM TO CATCH UP: 51 YEARS WITH INDONESIA, 95 WITH THAILAND AND 158 WITH SINGAPORE."
