This is my first posting on this website. My daughter who is 40 was diagnosed 2 years ago. She had been complaining of pain all over her body and trouble waking up. She was always so active and the fun of the party. She had gone to so many doctor's and there was only one doctor that thought it my be Fibromyalgia. I started to research it and the more I read the more I said, yes this is it.
She is in such pain and it breaks my heart. As a mother, you do not want to see your children suffer and you cannot do anything to help them.
I hope that soon, there is a medication that can cure the problem and not just half way treat it.

Let's all hang in there and hope and pray for the best....
Love and prayers to all that have this terrible illness.

Although there are only six comments before me they all are enough to move me to tears. As crazy as it sounds they are tears of joy. It could go back further than I remember but I started noticing my pain that wouldn't go away back in 1994. I couldn't understand what was going on the few doctors I saw were no help at all...they would tell me it would go away, or they would put me on steriods. It wasn't until four years later in 1998 that a doctor gave me info on FM and though she didn't test/diagnose me she told me "I feel this is what you may have". After going thru many more years of pain, depression, & sleepless nites I was finally diagnosed in July of 2008. The interviews I've listened to along with the comments I've read have so moved me because I saw and heard myself, my life, my pain, my having to deal with people acting like I'm making this up.....THANK YOU for sharing your stories.....I pray we will ALL one day see an end/cure for the UGLINESS known as FIBROMYALGIA.

The worst thing about having Fibromyalgia is missing out on the fun things in life, because of depression, medication, and pain.

I am just so sick of the pain and the depression that I wish I could go somewhere and get a lethal injection and be put out of the misery of pain & depression forever...would be SO NICE to be free of this

i was told after ia seems a milion different doctors and test that a have fibromyalgia. I have pain everydy of my life. I am trying to find a doctor that and i am having a hard time. I have three children that i cant run or play ball with. I am struggling with and my doctor says deal with it. I can live with pain, but on days I cant get out of bed I would like to have something for pain, but she says no. I am to the point i am tired of living. the depression, anxiety, and ever thing else it comes with.

The first step is awareness. It will be difficult to find comprehensive treatment and coverage for fibro as long as the medical and the general community doesn't recognize it. They needs to step up to the plate and think outside of prescription medication or extreme surgery and realize that this is something that needs to be confronted, not written off (pun intended). Everyone is working hard, but we seem to be stuck at an impasse. Perhaps it's time we re-evaluate what got us to this stand-still.

Has dealt with that very issue. I have been fighting with a disability for 4 years now. I can not hold a job long due to attendance problems also. There are days, no matter how much I might "want" to be able to go, I just can't. It's a misunderstood condition to say the least. I am dissatisfied with the constant commercials that MINIMIZE this horrible condition. I'm tired of being looked at like I might just be lazy ect. I know that the unsurmountable pain I suffer is far from being lazy ! It is only those who judge as such that have no idea what the nightmare called Fibromyalgia is !~
