Hu Jintao Defends Crackdown In Tibet
"Chinese President Hu Jintao on Saturday defended his country's crackdown in Tibet and said that it was an internal matter about defending China's unity.
Jintao said that the crackdown last month was a consequence of "conflict" with supporters of spiritual leader Dalai Lama.
The Chinese President's comments follow protests against the Olympic torch relay by pro-Tibet activists.
This is the first time Jintao has commented on last month's unrest in Tibet, when Tibetan exile groups say that Chinese security forces killed many protesters. " RTTNews
